Shirley de Silva

Airport Management



Shirley’s 15 years of senior airport leadership experience have taken her across a diversity of airports throughout Canada. 

In 2010, she joined the Comox Valley Airport Commission (CVAC) as Chief Executive Officer and led her team to international recognition for Rebranding and Marketing Excellence. 

Previously, she served at the helm of the Kingston Norman Rogers Airport where she directed safe operations which included the runway infrastructure, passenger terminal building and various hangers of the airfield.  Her responsibilities included master planning, rebranding and infrastructure upgrade projects. 

Always dedicated to advancing the airport industry profession, Shirley held the position of Vice President with the Airport Management Council of Ontario 2008-2009 and is a current member of the International Association of Airport Professionals. 

Shirley holds the prestigious IAP (International Airport Professional) accreditation from AMPAP – ICAO, as well as certification in Project Management, Lean Six Sigma, ISO 9000:2001, Municipal Leadership, and Emergency Preparedness.  She received her Undergraduate Degree in Communications from the University of Windsor and her Graduate Diploma in Institutional Administration from Concordia University.  

As a personal project, Shirley currently curates «AirportBox» an on-line magazine «all about airports». 

She lives in Canada with her husband and two children.
